  Abstract	Resumo A história ocidental dá conta do esforço humano na conquista do equilíbrio entre o modelo proposto pelo intelecto e a imagem acolhida pelos órgãos dos sentidos. Em cada época histórica o homem viveu de forma distinta a tensão entre modelos e imagens. A esse respeito Rancière distingue três momentos decisivos: o pensamento das imagens arquetípicas (regime ético das imagens); o pensamento da imagem representativa (desde Aristóteles, tendo seu apogeu no renascimento) e o pensamento da imagem estética (contemporaneidade). Para cada uma dessas épocas, a tensão do modelo e da imagem muda, mudando igualmente os sistemas de representação. Estes devem ser entendidos como ficções que criam sentidos e desenham ritos performativos, a partir das quais tudo pode ser pensado. Palavras-chave: ficção, história, narrativa, sensibilidade, signo Abstract The Western history realizes a human effort in achieving the balance between the model proposed by the intellect and the image received by the sense organs. In each historical period man lives in a different way the tension between models and images. In this sense Rancière distinguishes three crucial moments: the thought of archetypal images (ethical regime of images), the thought of representative image (since Aristotle having its heyday in the Renaissance) and the thought of the aesthetic image or fractals (contemporaneity). For each of these epochs, the tension between the model and the image changes, also changing the systems of representation. These should be understood as fictions that create meaning and draw performativity rites from which everything can be thought. Keywords: fiction, history, narrative, sensitivity, sign
