Abstract The experience, the culture and the spirituality of the Economy of Communion (EoC) challenge not only business practices, but also economic thought. In this paper, after a general reflection on economy and religion (§ 1), I discuss the conception of relations and sociality in economic tradition (§ 2), and the new concept of relational goods (§ 3). The thesis I would like to present and discuss in this paper is twofold: (a) The EoC can be read within the framework of the intertwined relations between religion and economic life; (b) the EoC calls economic theory to re-think the nature and meaning of the interpersonal dimension, taking more seriously relational goods. Keywords: Catholic Social Teaching, communion, Economy of Communion, economy, relational goods
