| Abstract | This research assumes that work is a form of integration and contributes to the definition of the social structure, facilitates the integration into the community and is an individual identity marker. In this regard, it is proposed to create and validate a scale of work centrality. So, we intend initially to review the theoretical rational, definition of the dimensions and procedure of drafting the items, pre-test and spoken reflectionpresentation and validation study with 625 individuals. The exploratory factor analysis found that the selected items refer to two factors: functional centrality related to the importance of the work and functions and its centrality in the life of the individual and affective centrality related to working while proportioning of the most important moments of life, Cronbach’s alpha of 0.815 and 0.676 and explained variance of 38.581 and 29.223, respectively. The study results provide evidence of the applicability of this scale in future studies. |
