Axioma - Publicações da Faculdade de Filosofia

Founded in Braga in 2005 as a testament to the Jesuits’ dedication to academia and science, Aletheia – Associação Científica e Cultural now leads Axioma – Publicações da Faculdade de Filosofia, continuing a legacy begun in 1949 with the “Publicações da Faculdade de Filosofia.” Supported by the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences, the publisher has become a key institution for sharing knowledge in Philosophy, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
Under Aletheia’s direction, Axioma publishes a wide range of thematic collections and internationally recognized journals, such as the Revista Portuguesa de Filosofia (RPF) and the Revista Portuguesa de Humanidades (RPH), both expanding Portuguese research globally. Axioma also maintains an interdisciplinary monograph series, Axioma Studies in Philosophy of Nature and in Philosophy and History of Science, launched in 2017 to enrich dialogue between science, philosophy, and religion.
In 2023, Axioma further broadened its scope with the creation of the Axioma Series in Pedagogy and Philosophy of Education, rooted in the Jesuits' Ignatian pedagogical traditions, serving as a platform for comprehensive studies in pedagogy and educational sciences. Furthermore, Axioma’s publications are structured across several autonomous collections, including Philosophy, Philosophical Texts, Theology, Humanities, Classical Studies, Social Studies, Psychology, Communication Sciences, University Courses, and an Extra Collection.
Aletheia’s strategic international partnerships bolster Axioma’s visibility and impact. In 2014, Aletheia joined forces with the JSTOR academic distributor, providing RPF content from its first issue in 1945. In 2015, it became a Crossref voting member, followed by a partnership with JISC in 2016, participating in the SHERPA/RoMEO platform, where it aggregates and manages copyrights of academic content. Since 2017, Axioma’s publications have been cataloged by The British National Library, and in 2018, Aletheia partnered with EBSCO Discovery, adding RPF and other titles to this global academic catalog.
Additionally, the Revista Portuguesa de Filosofia (RPF) has been indexed in Elsevier-SCOPUS since 2019, and in 2020, Aletheia partnered with ORCID, the leading global identifier of academic authors. In 2021, Aletheia also established a collaboration with the Modern Language Association, strengthening its standing in the scientific publishing field.
These partnerships, along with a tradition of editorial rigor and constant innovation, make Axioma a vital link between Portuguese intellectual heritage and the challenges of contemporary thought, fostering an engaging space for researchers, educators, and thinkers from diverse fields and generations.
